Erika Delbecque é bibliotecária na
Universidade de Reading, no Reino Unido. Enquanto estava a catalogar
obras da universidade, deparou-se com uma raridade: um dos primeiros
livros impressos naquele país.
Conta o Independent que o livro em
causa fazem parte de um caderno medieval de um padre, datado do
século XV, provavelmente do ano de 1476 ou 1477.
“Este item bem preservado é o
único do seu género e apenas um dos dois fragmentos” desta obra
que ainda existem atualmente, explicou a bibliotecária.

BRITISH LITERATURE WORK
TEXT-I
"The split between the French-speaking Normans and peasant English-speaking Saxons still exists today in a curious fashion. The Normans, as the conquerors and rulers, became the upper-class of England and their speech metamorphosed into today's well-educated English - composed primarily of Latin-based vocabulary. The common everyday speech of most modern English speakers however is still directly based on the Anglo-Saxon."
